Traumatic experiences can come in many forms, including sexual assault, emotional or physical abuse, car accidents, the death of a loved one, or discrimination based on your racial, gender, or sexual identities. All of these experiences are valid, real, and can have a meaningful impact on your life. Sometimes trauma can lead to changes in mood, difficulties in relationships, increased anxiety and stress, poor sleep, and less energy and motivation.

If you’ve been through something traumatic it can be difficult to trust others and often times we hide these experiences from everyone, even the ones we love. This can make it particularly difficult to reach out for help from a counselor after going through something traumatic. I ensure that I provide a space that is safe, free of judgment, and collaborative so that I can best support you as you process your experiences at your own pace. When working with someone who has experienced trauma, I first focus on establishing safety, both in the therapy room and in your life. Once you feel safer, we explore how your experiences are affecting your life and begin the process of empowering you to begin to take back your life. With time, through therapy you can feel like yourself again, only stronger and more capable.

If you feel ready to begin this journey or would like to talk more about what therapy can look like, please reach out to schedule a free phone consultation so we can get to know each other a little before scheduling a meeting.
